QUALITY IMPROVEMENT • EMS • HEALTHCARE

Better systems.
Better care.
Better outcomes.

Burton Improvement Endeavors helps EMS and healthcare organizations turn data into action, improvement ideas into sustainable change, and quality programs into meaningful results.

THE WORK

Quality improvement isn't a project. It's how better organizations work.

The goal is not simply to know how a system is performing. It is to understand why, decide what to do next, and build improvement into the way the organization works.

01
Make the right things measurable.

Focus attention on measures that reveal what matters—not just what is easy to count.

02
Turn insight into action.

Translate data and experience into practical decisions, tests of change, and implementation.

03
Build improvement into the system.

Create the structures, skills, and habits that allow better performance to last.

WHAT WE DO

Improvement work that connects the dots.

Better outcomes come from connecting strategy, measurement, people, and implementation—not treating them as separate problems.

Quality & Performance Improvement

Build improvement programs and projects that move beyond compliance, focus attention on what matters, and produce meaningful, measurable change.

OUR APPROACH

Our improvement approach is grounded in the Model for Improvement and PDSA cycles.

We begin by clarifying the aim, deciding how improvement will be measured, and identifying changes worth testing. Then we learn through disciplined Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles rather than betting everything on one big rollout.

This is how we make improvement practical: start with a clear objective, test changes on a small scale, study the results, refine the approach, and scale what works.

ABOUT BURTON IMPROVEMENT ENDEAVORS

Built on experience. Focused on improvement.

Brooke Burton is a paramedic, EMS quality improvement leader, educator, and consultant working at the intersection of improvement science, measurement, implementation, and frontline practice.

That perspective—grounded in frontline care, informed by system-level quality work, and broadened by national and international collaboration—shapes the way Burton Improvement Endeavors approaches change.

The goal is not to leave clients with a report full of recommendations. It is to help organizations define what better looks like, test changes intelligently, measure whether they work, and build improvement into the way the system operates.

Data should do more than describe the past.

It should help you decide what to do next.
